A Concise Summary Juz 1 Part 1 Hizb 3

 يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اعْبُدُوا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ

  • O mankind enslave yourselves to your Master completely
  • You can’t be a slave partially
  • It is full time 24/7
  • Worship Your Master and become slaves of Your Master
  • Previous ayat are about people who pretended to go into slavery
  • So Allah starts and gives His invitation all over again
  • As He created those before you
  • So that you may become righteous

 

الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ فِرَاشًا وَالسَّمَاءَ بِنَاءً وَأَنْزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً فَأَخْرَجَ بِهِ مِنَ الثَّمَرَاتِ رِزْقًا لَكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تَجْعَلُوا لِلَّهِ أَنْدَادًا وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

  • The one who made the earth for you as a bed spread out and humbled
  • He made it smooth and luxurious for us
  • He made it safe for us
  • The first parable was trouble from the earth
  • The second parable was trouble from the sky
  • The earth is actually meant to be protection for us
  • The sky is made as a ceiling
  • He sent down water from the sky
  • Water came down in previous parable as destruction
  • But Allah wants to send it to us as something beneficial for us
  • Then He extracted from them all kinds of fruits
  • The skies and the earth work together so we can eat
  • These ayat force a believer to be grateful
  • Do not make partners with Allah while you know there is nothing similar to Him
  • There is emotional problems of imaan or intellectual problem

 

وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ فِي رَيْبٍ مِمَّا نَزَّلْنَا عَلَىٰ عَبْدِنَا فَأْتُوا بِسُورَةٍ مِنْ مِثْلِهِ وَادْعُوا شُهَدَاءَكُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

  • And if you are in doubt about what we sent down upon our slave then bring a surah like it
  • And call upon your witnesses other than Allah if you are truthful
  • This is a Madani Ayah and it came after 13 years
  • The original call of the Quran is to decency and consciousness
  • This challenge is a curse from Allah
  • Truth and testimony are put in the same ayah
  • Your conscience should bring you toward the truth
  • But they killed their conscience

 

فَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلُوا وَلَنْ تَفْعَلُوا فَاتَّقُوا النَّارَ الَّتِي وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ ۖ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْكَافِرِينَ

  • But if you are not able to do so
  • And you will never be able to do so
  • Then fear and protect yourself from the fire whose fuel is men and stones
  • The stones are referring to their hearts that have become stone
  • And also the stones that the men worshipped
  • Stones burn and become like lava

 

وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ ۖ كُلَّمَا رُزِقُوا مِنْهَا مِنْ ثَمَرَةٍ رِزْقًا ۙ قَالُوا هَٰذَا الَّذِي رُزِقْنَا مِنْ قَبْلُ ۖ وَأُتُوا بِهِ مُتَشَابِهًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا أَزْوَاجٌ مُطَهَّرَةٌ ۖ وَهُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ

  • And You O Messenger congratulate those who come to faith
  • And do the few good deeds that was expected of them
  • Congratulations to those who made a great sale
  • For they will have multiple gardens beneath which rivers flow
  • It is a human obsession to live in the most beautiful home
  • Allah says congratulate them they have the most beautiful home
  • Home is on top of a mountain and beneath that is a waterfall
  • When they are provided with fruit thereof they say we already had this
  • They will have what is similar to it just like on the earth but better
  • Each bite tastes different
  • They will have purified spouses just for you
  • They are perfect just the way you like them
  • And they will abide therein eternally

 

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي أَنْ يَضْرِبَ مَثَلًا مَا بَعُوضَةً فَمَا فَوْقَهَا ۚ فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ ۖ وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَيَقُولُونَ مَاذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِهَٰذَا مَثَلًا ۘ يُضِلُّ بِهِ كَثِيرًا وَيَهْدِي بِهِ كَثِيرًا ۚ وَمَا يُضِلُّ بِهِ إِلَّا الْفَاسِقِينَ

  • Indeed Allah is not shy to present examples to teach us
  • Examples that are like a mosquito or smaller than it
  • Allah has given two examples from before this ayah
  • A teacher is not there to impress you with what He knows
  • A teacher’s job is to get you to understand
  • In normal speech you judge the intelligence of a speaker by his speech
  • But you cannot judge the intelligence of the teacher by his speech
  • Because the teacher will speak in a simple way so his students can understand
  • The Quran is the perfect speech of Allah but a glimpse of the wisdom of Allah
  • The example is given because it is good for us not for Allah
  • We should be grateful that Allah gave us the Quran so we can understand
  • Some professors talk in a way that we cannot understand them
  • The one who knows everything yet He clarifies for us
  • There is a difference between a scholar and a teacher
  • A scholar can say a lot and yet people don’t understand him
  • A teacher comes down to the level of the students
  • Those who believe know it is the truth from their Master
  • There will be some examples you may not understand and you must remain humble
  • But those who disbelieve say What did Allah intend by giving this as an example?
  • They have an arrogant attitude as they approach this book
  • He misleads by it many thereby and guides by it many thereby
  • And he misleads not except the inherently disobedient
  • The it could refer to the whole Quran or one or few examples
  • This is corruption of the ego and of arrogance

 

الَّذِينَ يَنْقُضُونَ عَهْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ بَعْدِ مِيثَاقِهِ وَيَقْطَعُونَ مَا أَمَرَ اللَّهُ بِهِ أَنْ يُوصَلَ وَيُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ

  • Those who violate the promise of Allah much after contracting it
  • The one who crosses the line they are not supposed to cross in their attitude
  • Like the rat that crosses into the hole he is not supposed to
  • Those who criticize the Quran
  • The contract was taken way back when we were created
  • Allah asked if we are his creation and we all said yes
  • They cut apart what Allah has ordered to be kept together
  • What are some things Allah ordered to be kept together
    • Quran and Sunnah
    • Family ties
    • Balance between Body and soul
    • Balance between Community and Individual
    • Believe in all the Prophets and Messengers
    • Take the whole book (Quran) and act upon it
    • Religious Knowledge and secular knowledge or acquired knowledge
  • A result of breaking apart what Allah kept together is corruption
  • Those are the ones who cause corruption
  • This kind of corruption is done because of greed
  • Those are the losers

 

 كَيْفَ تَكْفُرُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَكُنْتُمْ أَمْوَاتًا فَأَحْيَاكُمْ ۖ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُحْيِيكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

  • How could you disbelieve and be ungrateful to Allah when you were lifeless
  • And He gave you life
  • then He took a promise from us
  • Then He will cause you to die
  • Then He will bring us back to life
  • Then you will be returned to him

 

هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ لَكُمْ مَا فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَسَوَّاهُنَّ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ ۚ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

  • And it is He who created the earth for all of you and all things created on earth
  • Again forcing you to be grateful
  • These resources on the earth are meant to be shared by everyone
  • Then He rose to the sky
  • Then He created seven heavens
  • Hypocrites think religion deals with other worldly things
  • They think religious people are cut off from society
  • But Allah says that He is knowing of all things
