A Concise Summary Juz 1 Part 2 Hizb 2

يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتِيَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَأَنِّي فَضَّلْتُكُمْ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ

• O children of Israel
• They are being called a second time
• Before it was positive reinforcement
• Next Allah lists the crimes of the children of Israel
• Make mention of my favor
• That I bestowed upon you and that I preferred you over all the worlds
• Adam was told to accept my guidance
• Children of Israel were given that guidance

 

وَاتَّقُوا يَوْمًا لَا تَجْزِي نَفْسٌ عَنْ نَفْسٍ شَيْئًا وَلَا يُقْبَلُ مِنْهَا شَفَاعَةٌ وَلَا يُؤْخَذُ مِنْهَا عَدْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ

• And fear a day no one will benefit anyone else
• Nations become corrupt because there is a false concept of intercession
• No intercession or intercessor will be accepted
• No case file or anyone who wants to make intercession for you will be accepted
• No compensation will be taken
• And they are not going to be helped

 

وَإِذْ نَجَّيْنَاكُمْ مِنْ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَسُومُونَكُمْ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ يُذَبِّحُونَ أَبْنَاءَكُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ نِسَاءَكُمْ ۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكُمْ بَلَاءٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ عَظِيمٌ

• And remember when we rescued you from the Pharoah
• Allah had always helped them over and over again
• But the children of Israel turned the help of Allah from them
• The Pharoah would torture them an ugliest evil
• The Pharoah slaughtered their sons that were babies
• Genocide of children every other year
• And they let their women live
• Our dignity comes from our women
• Pharoah took away their dignity
• And in all of that their was a huge test from their Master
• Still these tests were not as difficult as Ibrahim’s tests

 

وَإِذْ فَرَقْنَا بِكُمُ الْبَحْرَ فَأَنْجَيْنَاكُمْ وَأَغْرَقْنَا آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَأَنْتُمْ تَنْظُرُونَ

• And when we parted the ocean with you and because of you
• The children of Israel were the divider keeping the two seas apart
• Then we rescued you once and for all
• Then Pharoah was crushed and the trial was over
• And all of you were watching
• Quran is talking to Israelites thousands of years later
• Israelites took pride in their history
• Until this day they say we survived not they

 

وَإِذْ وَاعَدْنَا مُوسَىٰ أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً ثُمَّ اتَّخَذْتُمُ الْعِجْلَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ وَأَنْتُمْ ظَالِمُونَ

• And we called Musa for 40 nights
• Israelites were saved from amazing incidents
• They turned back and took the calf as an object for worship
• And you became from the wrongdoers
• Allah does not spell out what they did
• It is unsayable and ugly in the sight of Allah

 

ثُمَّ عَفَوْنَا عَنْكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

• And then We lovingly pardoned you
• Allah is totally ok with them
• Even after this heinous crime
• Allah does not typically forgive shirk done with Him
• But Allah forgave them
• So hopefully you can be grateful
• Now the Final message the Quran is delivered
• These people should be the most grateful in the Quran
• They were supposed be a role model for all nations

 

 وَإِذْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَالْفُرْقَانَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ

• And recall when we gave Musa the Book and the criterion between right and wrong
• The book would decide what is right and wrong
• So that you may all be committed to guidance

 

وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ يَا قَوْمِ إِنَّكُمْ ظَلَمْتُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ بِاتِّخَاذِكُمُ الْعِجْلَ فَتُوبُوا إِلَىٰ بَارِئِكُمْ فَاقْتُلُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ عِنْدَ بَارِئِكُمْ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ

• And remember when Musa said to his people that you have wronged yourselves
• For taking the calf as worship
• You must repent to your Master by killing yourselves
• There were 12 tribes
• And each tribe should take their own Murtad and execute them
• That will be Allah forgiving the nation altogether
• A collective taubah
• They say how will that help
• Allah says that is better for you
• As far as your Master is concerned
• When you repent He will accept your repentance
• Indeed He is constantly accepting of repentance the extremely loving and caring

 

وَإِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَا مُوسَىٰ لَنْ نُؤْمِنَ لَكَ حَتَّىٰ نَرَى اللَّهَ جَهْرَةً فَأَخَذَتْكُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ وَأَنْتُمْ تَنْظُرُونَ

• They said O Musa we will accept what you are saying until we see Allah
• Face to Face
• The sarcastic commentary from them
• Allah was so offended by this comment
• This blasphemy is against Allah
• Also it was a doubt that the Messenger is speaking on behalf of Allah
• This entire surah is about Iman in the Message
• A loud explosion killed all of them while they were watching

 

ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَاكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَوْتِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

• Then we raised you up after you died
• Allah brought them back from the dead one by one
• So each one can see the other be brought back to life
• So that you may be grateful
• First time Allah loving pardoned them
• Second time they had to kill themselves for Allah to pardon them
• Sometimes the teacher has to get tougher on the students
• If Allah did not raise them then Hellfire was ahead of them

 

وَظَلَّلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ الْغَمَامَ وَأَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْوَىٰ ۖ كُلُوا مِنْ طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ ۖ وَمَا ظَلَمُونَا وَلَٰكِنْ كَانُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ

• Then we shaded you with friendly clouds under the heat of the sun in the desert
• And we sent down upon you Manna and Salwa
• They were given grain and birds to eat
• They had proteins and carbonhydrates
• Allah said to them consume from the good and pure things we provided you
• When you consume good things then it leads to your own purity
• We did not wrong them at all it was they who wronged themselves

 

وَإِذْ قُلْنَا ادْخُلُوا هَٰذِهِ الْقَرْيَةَ فَكُلُوا مِنْهَا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمْ رَغَدًا وَادْخُلُوا الْبَابَ سُجَّدًا وَقُولُوا حِطَّةٌ نَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ خَطَايَاكُمْ ۚ وَسَنَزِيدُ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

• And remember when we told you enter the city bowing humbly
• And asking for forgiveness
• And eat from it carefree from wherever you want but there is some limit
• We will bury your sins for you
• So you can be from amongst those who excelled

 

فَبَدَّلَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا قَوْلًا غَيْرَ الَّذِي قِيلَ لَهُمْ فَأَنْزَلْنَا عَلَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا رِجْزًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْسُقُونَ

• Then those who did wrong replaced the word with something else
• Instead of asking for forgiveness and bowing humbly
• They laughed and entered on their backs
• Allah sent upon them a disease from the sky
• They had been engaged in corruption
