Alhamdulillah

  • Hamd means Praise and Thanks at the same time
  • There is a difference between praise and thanks

  • We praise the marvel of the universe but we do not thank the universe

  • Allah chose the best word Hamd
  • When we say Alhamdulillah we need to have two attitudes in mind Praise and thanks

  • We praise Allah meaning if we are there praise exists otherwise no
  • Hamd is noun so it does not need anyone to do any thanks or praise
  • Hamd is a noun which means it is timeless and permanent
  • Allah is not in need of any Thanks or Praise
  • Whether there is anyone or anything to praise and thank Allah or not
  • Praise and Thanks for Allah still exists
  • Allah is independent from anyone or anything
  • Some people ask the question Why does Allah need my praise or thanks?
  • The answer is in Alhamdulillah that Allah is independent of our thanks and praise
  • When we say Praise Allah it means we do it or we don’t do it
  • So Allah does not command us rather Allah says Alhamdulillah
  • There are two kinds of sentences
  • Information sentences or emotion sentences
  • If Allah said For sure Hamd is for Allah then it would be info sentence only
  • Allah said Alhamdulillah so it is a sentence of information and emotion
  • Alhamdulillah means Praise and Thanks belongs to Allah
  • Lillah il Hamd means Praise and Thanks is only for Allah
  • Surah Al Fatihah uses Alhamdulillah or Praise and thanks is for Allah
  • Surah Al Jathiya uses lillah hil Hamd or Praise and Thanks is only for Allah
  • Praise and Thanks is only for Allah is used when arguing with someone
  • Praise and thanks is for Allah is just telling someone
  • Surah Al Jathiya is argument so lillah hil hamd is used
  • Surah Fatihah is statement from heart so Alhamdulillah is used
  • Surah Al Fatihah we already know Hamd is for Allah
  • Fatihah is not debating or arguing with anyone
  • In Alhamdulillah the name of Allah is used
  • When you use the Name of Allah you call on all the attributes of Allah
  • If you say Praise and thanks to the Creator
  • Then you only appreciate Allah as a Creator, not any other attribute
  • Allah is the proper name
  • When you introduce yourself you mention your name
  • Allah introduces Himself to us in Fatihah, so Allah uses His proper name
  • When using the proper name for Allah it clears any confusion of Hamd being for anybody or anything else
  • Some praise and thanks can be for other than Allah
  • But ultimately Hamd goes back to Allah
  • The Ultimate, Genuine, Timeless, & Sincere Praise and Thanks is for Allah
