Why Do we believe the Quran can only be Divine Speech?
Why do we believe the Qur’an can only be Divine Speech? Historical Arguments:
-
1. The Mushrik Arabs found it easier to unite thousands of men to fight in war against the Muslims than to produce something even close to a Surah of the Qur’an
-
Poetry was the Arabs forte, it was what they took pride in... yet over the span of 23 years, they were never able to critique it, or produce a work similar to it.
-
When the Arabs heard Surah Al-Kawthar without being told it was a Surah, they literally said "ما هذا قول البشر" or “this is not the word of Man!”
-
-
2. When the Qur’an challenged the non-Muslims to produce something “like” the Qur’an, it never specified in what way... Beauty? Style? Teachings? Impact?
No philosopher, no piece of literature has ever had the effect that the Qur’an had in 23 years...Qur’an civilized the Arabs in 23 years. It changed the way they dressed, spoke, what they ate, their relationships, political outlook, racial relations, economy, view on death, and the list goes on.
-
3. Doubters argue that if the Qur’an was perfect, rulers would still be applying its teaching correctly today (just as they were applied by the Prophet (S) as well as The Four Rightly Guided Caliphs)... but this line of thinking provides the perfect counter argument; what other piece of literature has ever been applied in real life just as it appeared on paper? Nothing.
-
4. The awareness and precision of word choice in the Qur’an is beyond human capabilities. The Qur’an was revealed as speech, over the course of 23 years, and wasn’t plugged

5. The Qur’an correctly defined non-Arab words that we only recently were able to define.
Ex. Musa: means newborn in Ancient Egyptian. However, we were only able to learn this within the last 100 years with the study of Egyptology. Yet the Qur’an defined Musa for us 1400 years ago!
Only those who haven’t invested time in studying the Qur’an argue that the Qur’an is manmade.
“Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah , they would have found within it much contradiction.” (Sahih International) (4:82)
*Advanced grammar gem, this is the only time that اختلاف is found in the نصب نكيرة form, so it literally is the only time “اختلاف” is found in the Qur’an!

Don’t let the sheer quantity of haters on the internet make you doubt in the Qur’an! Allah says the people of the Highest Intellect will be able to see through their garbage!
“Say, "Not equal are the evil and the good, although the abundance of evil might impress you." So fear Allah, O you of understanding, that you may be successful.” (Sahih International) (5:100)
